Introduction to Transportation Planning
Transportation Planning is a broad spectrum field of study for the identification of multi-modal travel demands and the development of transportation facilities to achieve the safe and efficient movement of people and goods. The focus of this discipline is to research how people travel between origins and destinations and how best to achieve broad-based multi-modal mobility goals. TMIG has experience in the development of Master Planning / Secondary & Block Planning, Corridor / Avenue Studies, Multi-Modal, Transit, and Travel Demand Management Studies (TDM), and Travel Demand Forecasting.
SPECIALIZED TRAFFIC ASSESSMENTS
Traffic assessments typically relate to specific concerns at a project site, and require the development of unique scopes and objectives to address local issues. These investigations often involve many specific studies to support the development of comprehensive solutions to multi-faceted site-specific challenges. TMIG staff have expertise in preparing transportation impact assessments and mitigation / implementation strategies for a wide spectrum of assignments, ranging from municipal block plans / corridor studies and environmental assessments to individual private development applications.
TMIG’s environmental assessment process provides comprehensive and objective conclusions when assessing the environmental and socio-economical impacts of a project. TMIG’s careful assessment allows us to identify ways to decrease or eliminate any negative impacts to the site, allowing decision makers to reach informed, confident decisions on whether to move forward with the proposed action.
STRATEGIC ADVISORY SERVICES
TMIG’s strategic advisory services range from the provision of simple technical / peer reviews, to handling contentious issues brought before the Ontario Municipal Board.
