Yonge / Vandorf / Leslie Watermain
This project involves a Schedule ‘A+’ Class EA and the preliminary and detailed design of 1.4km of 400mm-diameter and 8.5km of 900mm-diameter watermain.
Scope of Services
TMIG is providing engineering services to complete a Schedule ‘A+’ Class Environmental Assessment, preliminary design, detailed design, and contract administration for 8.5km of PD8 / Aurora Central 900mm-diameter watermain in the Town of Aurora and 1.4km of PD9 400mm-diameter watermain in the Town of Richmond Hill.
The Class EA considered alternative alignments within existing rights-of-way. The evaluation considered hydraulics, the impact on existing infrastructure, subsurface conditions, the impact to traffic, and the impact to the natural environment. The project study area is partially within the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Area. There are several watercourses and potential artesian conditions within the study area. The 900mm watermain included a pressure boundary valve chamber. The 400mm watermain included two sections utilizing microtunnelling technologies to cross existing watercourses. Microtunnelling was completed with a 900mm reinforced concrete jacking pipe. The 400mm watermain was installed in the primary liner and grouted in place.
