Yonge / Highway 7 Regional Centre
This project includes the detailed design and tender package engineering services for the Yonge Street / Highway 7 Regional Centre Water and Wastewater Servicing in the Town of Richmond Hill and City of Markham. The Centre was identified as an Urban Growth Centre in Places to Grow. The Centre is approximately 117 ha with planned populations of 48,000 residents and 31,000 employments.
Scope of Services
This assignment focuses on the detailed design and preparation of a contract tender ready package for both water and wastewater servicing, including coordination with other projects and environmental management.
The results of the Schedule ‘B’ Class Environmental Assessment previously performed by the TMIG team recommended both a water and wastewater solution. The water solution will involve designing three 300mm connections from the existing 1050mm PD6 watermain to provide security of supply to the Regional development. The wastewater solution will involve a new 675mm sewer along Hwy 7 with a 600mm sewer to the Langstaff Gateway and Richmond Hill Centre development. The sewer will be installed by open-trench and microtunnel methods under Highway 407. This project involves extensive stakeholder consultation, and includes risk management, scheduling, and Value Engineering workshops, as well as lessons-learned meetings.
