Thickson Road Detailed Design
TMIG is providing detailed design for the reconstruction and widening of Thickson Road from Wentworth Street to the CN Rail Overpass.
Scope of Services
This project involves urbanization of the existing road, including road rehabilitation and widening from its current two-lane cross-section to a four-lane urban section, auxiliary lanes at Wentworth Street and Tricont Avenue, a multi-use path, sidewalks and bus stop pads, and proposed storm sewer systems, including a new outfall and OGS units. Additional design services include updating the traffic study to reflect recent traffic counts, reviewing vehicle tracking through intersections for large trucks, and a roadside safety review.
The assignment requires approval from CLOCA for road embankment grading near Corbett Creek and a new storm sewer outfall, as well as approval from MOECC for a new storm sewer outfall and OGS units. This project also involves coordination with CNR and Metrolinx for the removal of an existing storm outfall, and a proposed multi-use path across their access driveways and within the concrete sloping of their existing underpass. It also requires coordination with the Town of Whitby, Durham Region Traffic, Durham Region Transit, and Whitby Hydro.
