Sandy Beach Road Reconstruction
The City’s Road Needs Study and 2013 Development Charges Study recommended that Sandy Beach Road be widened from two to three lanes and reconstructed to include the addition of storm sewers. Sandy Beach Road is a two-lane Class C Arterial Road from Bayly Street south 950m and is a collector road south 1,080m to Montgomery Park Road. The rural road is experiencing drainage issues, a poor road base, and poor pavement conditions, which is resulting in poor rideability. The need for the additional lane on Sandy Beach Road has triggered the need to complete an Environmental Assessment.
Scope of Services
TMIG is conducting a Schedule ‘B’ EA, preliminary and detailed design, tendering, site inspection, and contract administration for the widening and reconstruction of Sandy Beach Road for a distance of 2km from Montgomery Park Road to Bayly Street.
Several studies will be undertaken as part of the EA, including cultural heritage, archaeological, natural environment, geomorphology, storm drainage and stormwater management, geotechnical, and traffic and transportation. This assignment includes the design for replacement of the existing Krosno Creek culvert crossing, property acquisition, utility relocations, and extensive public consultation.
