Main Street Reconstruction
The TMIG team was retained to complete tender preparation to reconstruct approximately 1.2km of two-lane rural roadway. The project also included coordination with the Municipality of Clarington for the design and public meetings associated with the construction of a new sidewalk, as well as the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA).
Scope of Services
The conceptual design phase included an evaluation of existing geometric conditions and recommendations for improving the profile as well as the preparation and evaluation of options for the right-of-way, including urban and rural cross-sections, and an evaluation of full reconstruction versus partial depth reconstruction. The detailed design phase included plan and profiles, typical and detailed cross-sections, a detailed review of driveway profiles, utility coordination, a SWM design brief, storm sewer design, determining property requirements, line painting / signage plans, agency approvals, cost estimates, and tender preparation.
It was determined that reconstruction to an urban cross-section with storm sewers would allow the addition of the on-street bike facilities and allow for the construction of a sidewalk platform while minimizing the impacts on adjacent properties and utilities.
