Britannia Road Watermain and Trunk Sanitary Sewer
This project included the design of a new 1,200mm Regional sanitary trunk sewer along Britannia Road (Regional Road 6). The new trunk watermain will connect to the 400mm Zone M4L watermain east of Tremaine Road to the existing 750mm branch from the 900mm Zone M5L watermain via Pressure Reducing Valve. The project also included the design of a trunk sanitary sewer along Britannia Road from Tremaine Road to Regional Road 25. The 1,200mm sanitary sewer included connections to the future streets and a forcemain discharge chamber for the future connection of three parallel 450mm-diameter forcemains.
Scope of Services
TMIG was retained to provide detailed design, contract administration, and site inspection services for approximately 3.2km of 750mm- diameter CPP watermain along Britannia Road, which includes trenchless crossing of CN tracks, 3.2km of 1,200mm-diameter trunk sanitary sewer, and maintenance holes primarily constructed via microtunnelling.
Project highlights include property requirements coordination, SUE, crossing of the CNR via microtunnelling (and related monitoring program), crossing of the watercourses within the HRCA’s jurisdiction by dam and pump as well as microtunnelling (including obtaining a fish rescue permit), designing a PRV chamber (M5L to M4L), designing a forcemain discharge chamber, and completing the works within a tight design and construction schedule.
