Ballantrae Wells EA
TMIG is completing an assessment of the water supply requirements to service the planned population growth in the Town of Ballantrae. The Region identified that the firm capacity of the municipal water supply is not adequate to meet the long-term water supply requirements of the proposed population of Ballantrae-Musselman Lake to 6,230 persons. The additional population will require an increase in the maximum day takings, which will require an amendment to the Permit to Take Water (PTTW), for which a Schedule “B” Class EA is required. The community is presently supplied via three existing wells (two duty, one standby), and the Environmental Assessment will assess the potential alternative solutions to accommodate the growth.
Scope of Services
TMIG will complete a thorough assessment of the historical water demands, identify the alternative water supply solutions, coordinate the technical and specific environmental investigations, and identify the preferred water supply solution.
The “keys to success” for this project are related to approvals and consultation, through the EA and PTTW process. Working with the governing bodies will be key in recognizing the sensitivity of this area from an environmental perspective and the anticipated concerns of local residents and regulatory authorities.
