York - Keswick North Elevated Tank and Watermain

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project involves the design of a 6.8 ML composite elevated tank and 500 mm diameter watermain to feed the tank for the Keswick North area in the Town of Georgina.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

The Municipal Infrastructure Group Ltd. completed a Class "B” Environmental Assessment for the elevated tank, and is currently providing full engineering services to complete the design, inspection and contract administration for the 6.8 ML elevated Tank, 500 mm watermain and access road.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

This project is required to augment existing water supply to allow development to proceed and to provide greater security of supply for the Keswick water distribution system. The elevated tank will be a composite style steel tank mounted on a concrete pedestal.  The interior of the pedestal will house a separate valve room, electrical room, chemical disinfection room and scrubber room, complete with top-up chlorination equipment, piping, valving, electrical, HVAC, lighting and a portable standby generator. The design also involved a 500 m access road, detention pond and special consideration to maintain existing drainage patterns in the vicinity of the tank. The construction of the elevated tank will also involve the coordination of specialized inspection services for the geotechnical, welding and protective coatings systems.
