TMIG’s Municipal Team wins and delivers projects that span the areas of linear and roads infrastructure. Activities include proposals and pre-positioning for new assignments, completion of studies and environmental assessments to establish solutions, detailed design and approvals for solutions, and continued support through construction and commissioning.
Project Engineers on our Municipal team are responsible for assisting with the successful delivery of municipal infrastructure projects ranging in scope from preliminary servicing investigations, master/functional servicing studies, preliminary and detailed design, and contract administration and tender preparation.
Project Delivery: Provide design services for municipal infrastructure projects. Adhere to quality management processes and obtain all necessary approvals. Support the Project Manager with determining project scope, budget, resources and schedule control, and meeting client deliverables. Oversight of multiple simultaneous projects through to completion. Depending on experience, Project Engineers may provide contract administration and construction supervision duties.
Technical Support: Create detailed engineering design documents and grading and servicing designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D. Prepare servicing reports and cost estimates. Coordinate preliminary engineering investigations to support due diligence analyses and development applications. Provide engineering analysis including sewer calculations, earthwork calculations, and water modeling analysis. Must have Environmental Assessment experience.
Business Development: Provide business development support including technical proposal writing, identifying and researching strategic opportunities, and developing positive relationships with clients and municipal/approval agencies.
Team Management: Train and mentor junior team members. Lead by example to promote a high-performance team culture.
General: Success in supporting teams with a results-driven approach while maintaining a positive, professional attitude. Strong attention to detail and ability to produce quality results. Excellent organization, time management, and negotiation skills. Excellent client relationship skills and high level of customer service. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong technical writing skills.
Technical: Strong engineering design skills and technical aptitude with in-depth knowledge of industry best practices and standards. Understanding of local planning and development approval processes, including Environmental Assessments (EA) and Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) application process. Ability to maintain multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines. Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Microstation.
Professional Knowledge and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent. Minimum 5 years relevant experience and must have environmental assessment and road design experience. Professional engineer (P.Eng.) or CET in Ontario. Contract administration experience an asset.
