Contract Administrator / Site Inspector, Contract Administration

TMIG’s Contract Administration team oversees projects to ensure compliance with contracts, designs, and industry standards, resulting in successful project execution. As a member of our team, you will lead the administration of construction contracts on behalf of our land development and municipal clients. Projects include residential, industrial, and commercial developments, and new or improved municipal infrastructure spanning roads, sewers, watermains, and vertical works, throughout the GTA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Delivery: Provide inspection and contract administration support to a Senior Contract Administrator, ensuring adherence to municipal or provincial standards, engineering design drawings, and technical specifications. Report on and assist with the resolution of unforeseen site / construction issues. Prepare contract admin documents. Prepare take-offs and cost estimates and assist with the preparation of tender documents and specifications. Attend site meetings and take notes for preparation of site meeting minute reports. Track daily quantities and assist with the preparation of the monthly payment certificates. Liaise with clients, contractors, public agencies, etc. with respect to on site construction activities. Collect as-constructed data using Total Station or GPS survey instruments and prepare redline as-built drawings as the projects progress. Implement and monitor inspection procedures in accordance with professional and corporate guidelines. Follow all corporate and regulatory construction safety procedures including the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Business Development: Develop and maintain relationships with clients, municipal/approval agencies, contractors and other stakeholders. Participate in industry events.

Team Management: Train and mentor junior team members in their day to day inspection activities onsite. Lead by example to promote a high-performance team culture.

QUALIFICATIONS:

General: Detail oriented with exceptionally accurate record keeping skills. Excellent organization, time management, conflict resolution, decision making and negotiation skills using sound judgement always. Provide a high level of customer service. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Can work independently and on a team in an open, shared environment. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines, producing high quality work. Available to work extended hours/weekends if required.

Technical: Ability to interpret contract documents and engineering drawings. Familiar with industry best practices and standards. Knowledge of Canadian Contract Law including the Construction Lien Act. Survey knowledge using total station and GPS technology. Strong MS Word and AutoCAD Civil 3D skills.

Professional Knowledge and Qualifications: Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management or equivalent. Registered or eligible for registration with OACETT as a C.E.T or C.Tech. 5-10 years relevant experience in a site inspection role would be an asset. MTO Class ‘G’ driver’s license in good standing and access to a personal vehicle. First Aid Training, Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, OTM Book 7 etc. would be an asset, however, TMIG will provide training if required.
