City of Hamilton - Churchill Park

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project addresses the City of Hamilton’s concerns with regards to the stormwater management for Churchill Park, and simultaneously evaluates basement flooding issues and potential solutions in the adjacent neighbourhood.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

For the City of Hamilton, The Municipal Infrastructure Group Ltd. was retained to undertake an analysis of existing drainage patterns in Churchill Park, and to work alongside the ongoing Park Master Plan process to incorporate stormwater management infrastructure that will protect the downstream receiving areas, which include Cootes Paradise and the Royal Botanical Gardens. As the neighbourhood adjacent to the park has experienced periodic basement flooding, opportunities to alleviate this issue are also being explored.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

A significant opportunity exists to combine the infrastructure needs for both the park and the neighbourhood via an integrated and comprehensive Stormwater Management Strategy utilizing the latest in low impact and sustainable development technologies. TMIG has undertaken a systematic process of identifying, evaluating, and selecting the measures needed to achieve the project objectives.
